Frequently asked questions

What is a residential proxy?

A proxy that sends your request through an IP address belonging to a home internet connection, assigned by a regular ISP. To the site you visit, the request looks like one from an ordinary user in that location, not from a data center. More on residential proxies.

How is traffic counted?

Each plan holds a number of gigabytes. Traffic through the proxy is subtracted from it, and the dashboard shows what is used and what remains. These figures come from the network supplier, and the dashboard shows when they were last synced.

Does unused traffic expire?

No. Bandwidth plans have no expiry date: unused GB stay on the plan until you use them.

Can I keep the same IP for a while?

Yes, with a sticky session. Add a session ID and a number of minutes to the proxy username, and requests with that ID stay on one IP. A residential connection can still drop, so your code should cope with a change. See rotating or sticky sessions.

Do you have a public API for customers?

Not at the moment. Proxies themselves connect over standard HTTP and SOCKS5, and plans, credentials and usage are managed in the dashboard.

What happens after I pay?

When the payment is confirmed, the system creates the plan automatically and the connection details appear in your dashboard. If that cannot be done, the order is flagged for manual handling and shows its status to you, and you are refunded if the plan cannot be delivered. See the refund policy.

Which protocols are supported?

HTTP on port 8080, which also tunnels to HTTPS sites, and SOCKS5 on port 1080. The same username and password work for both.

Which countries are available?

The current list is on the locations page. It comes from the network supplier and can change.

Can I add traffic without changing credentials?

Yes. A top-up adds GB to the same plan, so your username, password and integrations stay the same. Each top-up is a separate order.

Is there a subscription?

No. You pay once for each purchase, and nothing renews.

How do I pay?

By bank card on the payment provider's page. We do not receive or store card numbers.

How do I work out how much traffic I need?

Multiply average response size by the number of requests. The bandwidth calculator does this for you, and this note explains how to measure response size.

What is not allowed?

Illegal access, spam, fraud and other abuse. The acceptable use policy has the full list and explains how complaints work.

Do you log what I send through the proxy?

Proxy traffic runs directly between you and the supplier's gateway, not through our servers, and we keep no logs of its content. We store usage volumes per plan so you can see them and we can bill correctly.

Can I get a refund?

If a paid plan was not delivered, yes. For everything else, see the refund policy and write to support@proxyron.com.
