The line PROXY_HOST:8080:alice:s3cret becomes http://alice:s3cret@PROXY_HOST:8080. Special characters in a username or password are percent-encoded in URL formats.
Questions
Is it safe to paste real credentials?
The conversion is JavaScript running in your tab: there is no upload, and this page does not load analytics. You can disconnect from the network after the page opens and it will still work.
What happens with a line it cannot read?
It is skipped and listed with its line number, and the rest of the list is still converted.
Does it check that a proxy works?
No. It only changes the format and never connects to anything.
